Welcome to the web
page of the Association of Medical School Pharmacology Chairs (AMSPC).
The website provides much of the basic information needed to appreciate
the role of our society in structuring education and research
enterprises for the over one hundred departments in North America. We
are in the process of continuing to build this site and in the coming
months we will attempt to incorporate as much useful information for our
members as possible.
The Association of Medical Pharmacology Chairs is an organization
composed of current and emeritus Chairs of medical school pharmacology
departments in the United States and Canada and Associate Members from
other countries. The organization strives to promote pharmacology as a
discipline and our overall focus includes: medical and graduate student
education; scientific research; research funding; interface with
industry; faculty development. Each year the membership holds an annual
winter meeting in January or February to update members on important
developments in these areas and allow members to interact in an informal
atmosphere that promotes idea exchange, cooperation and formation of new
friendships and collaborations. The side-bars on this page provide some
information on these meetings. AMSPC also maintains and regularly
updates the Knowledge Objectives in Medical Pharmacology that provides
information on the essential elements of pharmacology that should be
taught to medical students. In addition, AMSPC maintains a close
relationship with FASEB through the American Society for Pharmacology
and Experimental Therapeutics.
So explore our website and if you have any comments or questions, please
feel free to contact me (tewk@musc.edu)
or any of our officers.
