JPET Highlight: Antinociceptive Effects of Nicotinic Partial agonists in Acute and Tonic Pain Models

Posted on 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM | Tags:

Full agonists of nicotinic receptors have demonstrated antinociceptive effects in a wide range of acute, tonic and chronic pain models. However, their effectiveness is limited by side effects. This study shows that partial agonists of different nicotinic subtypes are also potential targets for the treatment of pain. See article at J Pharmacol Exp Ther 2012, 342:742–749. (JPET 194506)
