The
Food and Drug Administration released a study showing the number of
innovative drugs approved in FY11. Between October 1, 2010 and September
30, 2011, the FDA approved 35 innovative drugs. The FDA reports that this
is one of the highest numbers of approvals in the last decade. The FDA
further reports that it approved 24 of the drugs (almost 70%) before it was
approved by almost any other country in the world, including Europe.
