The ResearchMeansHope.org (RMH) campaign recently launched a new online petition to demonstrate broad
public support for increased medical research funding and to raise awareness of
the campaign. The AAMC has circulated the petition link to faculty,
researchers, students, and alumni through the association’s various group listserves.
Over the coming months, AAMC will work with their campaign partners and other
stakeholders to further distribute this petition and highlight the significant
and diverse support for sustained research funding. Because one of the
RMH campaign’s unique elements is the innovative use of social media, they will
also use a Twitter platform that will enable individuals who sign the petition
to “retweet” it for others to sign. This action will generate a new tweet
on the White House’s Twitter site, drawing attention to the petition and the
need for increased NIH funding. The AAMC is a founding member of RMH, a
coalition of concerned patients and the physicians and researchers of America's
medical schools, teaching hospitals, universities, research companies, and organizations.
