Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research letter raises sequestration concerns to Congress and Obama administration

Go back To Policy Updates

The Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research submitted a letter to all Members of Congress, the White House, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and the Office of Science and Technology Policy expressing concern over the impact on NIH that would result from sequestration mandated by the 2011 Budget Control Act. The letter notes that the NIH budget would be reduced by $2.8 billion in the first year alone and would result in NIH funding 2,300 fewer research grants in FY 2013.
