ASPET announces hiring of new Executive Officer Judith Siuciak, effective August 19

Judith SiuciakBETHESDA, Md. – July 23, 2013 – The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) is pleased to announce the appointment of Judith Siuciak, Ph.D., as Executive Officer, effective August 19.

Dr. Siuciak brings diverse experience from the academic, industry, and non-profit sectors. Dr. Siuciak comes to ASPET from the Foundation for the NIH where she has been Scientific Program Manager for the Biomarkers Consortium since 2008. She received her B.S. in biology from Illinois Institute of Technology and her Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Illinois College of Medicine under the direction of Dr. Claire Advokat. She then pursued an NRSA Postdoctoral Fellowship at Northwestern University Medical School with Dr. Margarita Dubocovich. Dr. Siuciak has 17 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, initially working in the Neurobiology Group at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. She then joined Pfizer Global Research and Development in the Psychotherapeutics Group of the Neuroscience Department holding positions of increasing responsibility. Dr. Siuciak has over 40 publications in neuropharmacology and two patents.

Dr. Siuciak succeeds Christine K. Carrico, Ph.D., who was ASPET’s Executive Officer for the past 16 years. Just the fifth Executive Officer in the last 50 years of ASPET’s history, Dr. Siuciak noted that she is "truly honored to be given the opportunity to serve ASPET as the new Executive Officer. The organization has a strong tradition of providing excellent science through its publications, programs, and annual conference. I look forward to working with the Council, staff, and membership in the future and building on Dr. Christine Carrico's success in this role.”

ASPET is a 5,000 member professional society founded in 1908. ASPET members conduct basic, translational, and clinical pharmacological research within the academic, industrial, and government sectors. Our members discover and develop new medicines and therapeutic agents that fight existing and emerging diseases, as well as increase our knowledge regarding how therapeutics affects humans.
