Mengyue Li, a PhD candidate at the University of Kansas, is the Drug Metabolism and Disposition Highlighted Trainee Author for August 2025.
The article that earned her the selection is titled “Comparative transcriptomic profiling of drug-metabolizing enzymes and drug transporters in rabbit ocular subtissues, liver, and duodenum” and is available at: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.dmd.2025.100099.
Her research focuses on how the eye process drugs, and how they are broken down and how they move across eye tissues. “Because the eye has unique barriers that can limit drug efficacy, understanding these processes is key to design better treatments. I would say my work aims to help bring safer, more effective, and more patient-compatible medicines to people with eye conditions,” she shares.
