ASPET’s Division of Behavioral Pharmacology sponsors the P. B. Dews
Award for Research in Behavioral Pharmacology. The award, which is
given biennially, is supported by an endowment made possible by
contributions from Aventis, Centre de Recherche Pierre Fabre, Eli Lilly,
Harvard University, International Life Sciences Institute Caffeine
Committee, Merck (San Diego), Pepsi Cola Company, Pfizer Central
Research and Pfizer Global Research and Development, Pharmacia,
Wyeth-Ayerst Research, and ASPET members. The Award consists of $750,
an appropriate plaque, and travel support for the winner to the award
ceremony. The purpose of this Award is to recognize outstanding
lifetime achievements in research, teaching and professional service in
the field of Behavioral Pharmacology and to honor Peter Dews for his
seminal contributions to the development of behavioral pharmacology as a
discipline.
There are no restrictions on institutional affiliation and a candidate
need not be a member of the Society. Nominations may be made by members
ASPET or of any relevant scientific society.
Nominations shall be accompanied by:

Six copies of a description of the candidate’s major contributions,
including scientific, teaching and professional achievements.

Six copies of the candidate’s curriculum vitae.

Six copies of a list of the candidate’s list of publications and
trainees.

Six copies of each of five major publications.
Selection of the recipient will be made by the P. B. Dews Award
Committee, appointed by the President of ASPET. The Award and plaque
will be presented to the recipient at the annual meeting of ASPET. The
recipient will be invited by the Chair of the Division of Behavioral
Pharmacology to deliver a special lecture on this occasion. The lecture
will be published subsequently in an appropriate, ASPET-sponsored
publication.
Nominations for this Award must be received no later than
September 15
of the year before the award is to be
presented by the
