Request for Nominations for Editor for Molecular
Pharmacology
Dr. Joan Heller Brown is stepping down as Editor of Molecular
Pharmacology on January 1, 2003 following her recent appointment as
Interim Chair of the Department of Pharmacology at UCSD. The Board of
Publications Trustees thanks Joan Heller Brown for a very successful three
years as Editor of Molecular Pharmacology. Under her leadership the
journal has continued as one of the most widely read and cited journals in
pharmacology. We offer her our best wishes for success in her new
appointment.
The Board of Publications Trustees is now opening a search for an
outstanding individual to fill the position of Editor. We invite all
interested ASPET members to send to the Board nominations of persons well
qualified to lead the journal. Editors are appointed for a three-year term
with the option of extending this term for another three-year term with
the agreement of the Board. We are now searching for an Editor who can
recruit an experienced team of Associate Editors to lead the journal
forward, attracting more of the best papers and expanding the range and
readership of the journal. We anticipate that the journal will have moved
to full electronic submission, review, and manuscript tracking by the time
the new Editor takes over. All nominations (including self-nominations)
will be considered seriously and in confidence by the Board of
Publications Trustees. Inquiries about the position should be directed to

Paul Insel Appointed Editor During Transition
We are grateful to Dr. Paul Insel for agreeing to serve as Editor of
the journal while we conduct a search for an Editor to fill the next
three-year term. Paul Insel is currently an Associate Editor, and he is
located in the Department of Pharmacology at UCSD. He has been very much
involved over the last three years in the management of the journal along
with Joan Heller Brown, and also has considerable editorial experience
with several other major journals. We have full confidence in his ability
to lead the journal with distinction during the search for the next
Editor. We are also grateful to the present team of Associate Editors and
the journal staff at the La Jolla Office for agreeing to continue to serve
the journal until a new Editor is appointed.
