Postdoctoral positions, Department of Pharmacology
and Toxicology, University of Utah
Three postdoctoral positions are available in the
Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Utah, to
work on a NIDA-funded Program Project Grant and other RO1s assessing
the impact of psychostimulants and related agents on monoaminergic
systems. The first is in the laboratories of Drs. Annette
Fleckenstein (fleckenstein@hsc.utah.edu)
and Glen Hanson (Glen.Hanson@pharm.utah.edu),
and involves assessing the impact of psychostimulants on
monoaminergic transporter function. Experience with contingent drug
administration is preferred, but not required. The second is in the
laboratory of Drs. Diana Wilkins (Diana.Wilkins@utah.edu)
and Annette Fleckenstein, and involves assessing factors
contributing to the persistent deficits caused by methamphetamine.
The third is in the laboratory of Dr. Kristen Keefe (k.keefe@utah.edu)
and involves studying cellular and systems-level mechanisms
underlying methamphetamine-induced damage to striatal dopamine
systems. Experience in stereotaxic surgery, site-specific injection
of drugs, in vivo microdialysis, and/or in situ hybridization
histochemistry and immunohistochemistry is desired. Applicants
should have a Ph.D. in pharmacology or neuroscience. However,
candidates with strong scientific skills in any neuroscience-related
area and strong written and verbal communication skills also will be
considered and are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants
interested in one of these positions should send a cover letter,
curriculum vitae, statement of research experience/interests, and
names of three references to the PI listed above for the relevant
project. The University of Utah is an Equal Employment
Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Posted June 21, 2009
