JPET Highlight: Natriuretic Peptide-Induced Catecholamine Release From Cardiac Sympathetic Neurons

Posted on 11/15/2012 5:36:53 PM

Heart failure does not appear to improve with the administration of recombinant BNP (nesiritide), despite the predicated beneficial effects of natriuretic peptides. Results from the present study suggest that the lack of improvement may be related to a proadrenergic effect of natriuretic peptides. See article at J Pharmacol Exp Ther 2012, 343:568–577.
