Drexel University recently appointed James E. Barrett, Ph.D., founding director of the Clinical and Translational Research Institute. The Clinical and Translational Research Institute is a new University-wide initiative housed in the Drexel University College of Medicine. The objective of the institute is to “promote and support outstanding research and academic programs that lead to innovative science, advanced therapeutic applications and, ultimately, improved clinical care.” Dr. Barrett currently serves as professor and chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology at Drexel and director of the university’s Drug Discovery and Development Program. A past president of ASPET, he also currently serves as the chair of ASPET’s Board of Publication Trustees and president of the Association of Medical School Pharmacology Chairs.
