Both airports offer plentiful taxi service. Rates range from $45-$55 from O'Hare, and $35-$45 from Midway. Rates vary based on travel time/traffic and are subject to change. Ride sharing shuttles are also available to most downtown hotels.
Both airports are connected via Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) “L” trains to the downtown hotels and the convention center. The “L” system is a heavy rail rapid transit service sometimes referred to as a subway or metro in other cities. The nickname “L” is short for “elevated,” although as the system has expanded, it now includes both above ground and subway tunnels.
Chicago is accessible via several major interstates and highways: I-90 (Kennedy Expressway), I-94 (Dan Ryan Expressway), I-55 (Stevenson Expressway), I-290 (Eisenhower Expressway), I-294 (Tri-State Tollway).
Amtrak serves Chicago with about 50 trains arriving and departing daily.
