Since its formation in April 2015, the Division for Cancer Pharmacology (DCP) is emerging as the 'go-to' place for cancer pharmacologists to gather at the ASPET Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology
(EB) to present their latest findings on all aspects of cancer
pharmacology. The ASPET Annual Meeting also provides an excellent forum
for cancer pharmacologists to build professional networks and form
collaborations with colleagues interested in cancer pharmacology from
across the continent. ASPET members interested in cancer pharmacology
research are encouraged to join this Division as either a primary or
The next ASPET Annual Meeting at EB is April 22-26, 2017 in Chicago, IL. We hope you will plan to attend.
Upcoming Division Activities
For the annual meeting (April 22-26, 2017), DCP is sponsoring an
exciting roster of programming including three Symposia entitled 3D Biology in Cancer Pharmacology, Childhood Cancer Drug Development, and Stem Cells in Cancer.
Thanks to those who submitted Symposia proposals for consideration by
the ASPET Program Committee. We encourage all of you to submit Symposia
proposals for EB2018; the deadline for submissions will be March 2017.
A DCP-sponsored Young Investigator Symposium will also be held at
the ASPET Annual Meeting where all of the speakers will be trainees
(undergraduate student, graduate student, or postdoctoral scientist).
Speakers will be selected from abstracts submitted to EB in a Cancer
Pharmacology abstract topic category. Those selected as speakers may
receive a $250 award.
Best Presentation Awards will also be given out by DCP for best
posters by postdoc, graduate student, and undergrad participants of the
ASPET Student/Postdoc poster competition. All trainees are encouraged
to submit an abstract in a Cancer Pharmacology category, and to apply
for an ASPET Travel Award and Best Presentation Award.
DCP’s priority is to make sure that the next generation of cancer
pharmacologist are recognized for their scientific contributions!
Prizes will be awarded at the DCP Mixer which will be held jointly with
several other ASPET Divisions.
Finally, we hope you will plan to come to the DCP Annual Business
Meeting at EB2017. Let us know about your ideas for scientific
programming, and any other matters related to promoting the discipline
of cancer pharmacology.
