Beth Habecker, PhD, has accepted the position of interim chair of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the Oregon Health & Science University. She will formally assume the role after the current chair David Dawson, PhD, steps down on July 1, 2014.
Dr. Dawson has played a substantial role in the school's education mission, one recognized by both students and colleagues.
A member of the faculty since 1997, Dr. Habecker, leads an active research program while maintaining a significant role in education and community service.
She received her PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Washington and completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Story Landis, PhD, the director of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.
