Cátia F. Marques, a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania is the September 2025 HTA for Drug Metabolism and Disposition.
The article that earned her the selection is titled: C Metabolic activation of flunitrazepam via nitroreduction mediated by aldo-keto reductase 1C3.
Her research investigates the role of aldo-keto reductases in the metabolism of nitro-containing drugs. With my recent publication, I hope to contribute to a deeper understanding of AKRs and to highlight that even well-known enzymes can have functions and roles that are not yet fully appreciated.”
