Vrishali Salian, PhD, a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Minnesota, is the Molecular Pharmacology Highlighted Trainee Author for January 2026.

Her research, “Elucidating Molecular Mechanisms Governing TNF-Alpha-Mediated Regulation of Amyloid Beta 42 Uptake in Blood-Brain Barrier Endothelial Cells,” focuses on finding early warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease.

“I study how cerebrovascular inflammation affects the brain’s protective barrier and how this changes the levels of key proteins linked to Alzheimer’s. If we can detect these changes earlier and more accurately, we may be able to diagnose the disease sooner, monitor it better, and ultimately improve patient care,” Salian shared.
