ASPET members, are welcome to participate in the ASPET Capitol Hill Day from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15 prior to the start of the annual meeting.
We also encourage submission of abstracts that explore science policy issues as they pertain to pharmacology and the broader scientific community. Submit to the Policy & Advocacy topic in section 11 of the submission form.
ASPET provides unparalleled opportunities to engage with others in the pharmacology community.
Enjoy a drink and snacks while exploring the latest science or presenting it yourself! (Abstract submission deadline is December 11). Poster presentations are held every evening. Posters are grouped by divisional topic area and every night includes student and postdoc finalists competing for poster awards. Hear their presentations and discuss the latest research advances.
On Thursday, May 16, ASPET welcomes everyone to D.C. where you can connect with each other on the conference’s opening night in a fun and inspiring location outside the hotel. The registration fee includes a free ticket. At the museum, test your spy skills and explore the tradecraft through the stories of individuals and their missions, tools and techniques. The exhibits will be open exclusively for ASPET attendees as well as the top floor ballroom for post-exhibit mingling and snacks. Immerse yourself in the interactive exhibits, reconnect with old allies and forge new connections, as we kick off our long weekend dedicated to pharmacology.
The program is designed to allow plenty of opportunities to share a meal with other scientists focused on pharmacology and experimental therapeutics. You can network and enjoy a meal with your colleagues.
The schedule includes 30-minute breaks between sessions. You don’t have to rush to find the next session room. Take the time to linger to meet the speakers or chat with other attendees in the session or compare notes with a colleague who attended a different session.
Since the opening session on Thursday, May 16th doesn’t start until 2:30 pm, you can have the morning to join in a smaller ASPET group for site-seeing tours or a community service project. More info coming soon.

Many ASPET committees take advantage of the annual meeting to hold face-to-face committee meetings. The listing of committee and board meetings will be posted by January 1 so you can make your travel plans accordingly.

Since 2009 ASPET members attending the annual meeting have given their time to volunteer in the local communities. Activities have ranged from home construction, to painting, cleaning, stocking shelves, building maintenance, food preparation and service. ASPET’s Division for Behavioral Pharmacology will again sponsor a volunteer opportunity at ASPET 2024 in the Washington, DC area.
Space is limited so before signing up on the registration form, please be sure you are able to arrive by 8:00 am on Thursday, May 16 in order to participate at the DC Central Kitchen whose mission is to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities.
