July 15, 2016

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) today issued the following statement on the Senate’s overwhelming passage of the conference report to S. 524, the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016. The House passed the package on July 8, by a vote of 407 to 5.

"To the countless Americans in despair and communities that are suffering, help will soon be on the way. We have an urgent problem, and the House and Senate came together, on a bipartisan basis, and got the job done," said Chairman Upton. "I am hopeful that President Obama will follow Congress' lead and soon sign this package into law. Lives are at stake, and this critical legislation will help make a difference across Michigan and in every community in America."

The legislative package includes 11 bills passed by the Energy and Commerce Committee.
