Student and Postdoctoral Best Presentation Awards
The Division for Cancer Pharmacology (DCP) offers Best Presentation Awards at the ASPET Student/Postdoc Poster Competition during the Experimental Biology (EB) Meeting each year. To be eligible for a DCP Best Presentation Award you must submit your abstract to EB in an ASPET topic category AND apply separately in the ASPET Award Portal. The Student/Postdoc Poster Competition, during which judging of the posters takes place, and the Student/Postdoc Mixer are held on Sunday at the beginning of the EB meeting. Poster judges for DCP typically include members of the DCP Executive Committee. Winners will be announced and certificates awarded at the Division for Cancer Pharmacology Mixer held later in the meeting. The DCP Mixer allows for a well-deserved and very public recognition of the award winners. Both events provide great networking opportunities for students, trainees, young investigators, and not-so-young investigators.
Young Investigator Symposium
The Division for Cancer Pharmacology will be sponsoring a Young Investigator Symposium at the EB2017 meeting in Chicago (April 22-26). Undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral scientists are eligible to be selected to give an oral presentation of their work based on their submitted abstract (to EB in an ASPET topic category). Invited speakers may also receive a cash prize ($250) and will receive public recognition of their accomplishments (and a certificate) at the DCP Mixer held during the EB2017 meeting. Invitations to participate in this DCP Symposium will be issued in early 2017. The 2016 symposium speakers and titles of their presentations can be found under the Tuesday PM section of the EB2016 site.
ASPET Travel Awards
Trainees (and their mentors) should be aware that ASPET offers undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral scientists travel awards to help defray the costs of travel and housing to attend the ASPET Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology. Information on these awards can be found on the ASPET Travel Awards page.
