Joseph C. Galley Joseph C. Galley is the Molecular Pharmacology Highlighted Trainee Author for the June 2019 issue. Mr. Galley is a pre-doctoral trainee in the Molecular Pharmacology Training Program at the University of Pittsburgh. His mentor is Dr. Adam C. Straub. The Molecular Pharmacology article that earned his selection as a Highlighted Trainee Author is titled “Antagonism of Forkhead Box Subclass O Transcription Factors Elicits Loss of Soluble Guanylyl Cyclase Expression” and is available at https://doi.org/10.1124/mol.118.115386.

Mr. Galley’s research involves transcription factor mediated gene regulation in the context of smooth muscle function in health and disease. His current research involves the Forkhead box subclass O (FoxO) transcription factors and the role that this family of proteins play in the regulation of the nitric oxide signaling pathway.

The anticipated impact of Mr. Galley’s research involves the potential discovery of FoxO-mediated vasculopathy and the potential discovery of novel intervention methods for downstream pathophysiological conditions. When not in the lab, Joe enjoys fishing, hiking, running, and reading a good book.
