A special section entitled “Clot Formation: Novel Regulators, Drugs and Targets” is being planned for publication in the September 2024 issue of The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

Despite significant progress in the last decade regarding our understanding of the molecular and signaling pathways underlying clot formation, much remains unknown or poorly understood. While a host of new drugs have received approval, both against platelet receptors and the clotting cascade, further drug discovery research is still required to effectively treat disorders of clot formation such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and arterial thrombosis.

The special section will accept original clinical, basic science and translational research papers. These can address novel signaling molecules and/or pathways involved in clot formation and characterization of new drug entities or molecules, including from a platelet and clotting cascade points of view, are highly encouraged. Review articles addressing any aspect of the listed topics will also be considered.

Article proposals, including the title, abstract, significance statement and full author information, should be submitted as a pre-submission inquiry to The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. These proposals should be sent to the special section guest editors, Dr. Fadi Khasawneh and/or Dr. Jeremy Wood, for approval before submission of the full article.

The submission deadline is January 31, 2024 and all submissions must refer to the journal’s Instructions to Authors. There are no submission fees or page charges for publishing in this special section, and accepted manuscripts will be published immediately online.
