The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Publishes a New Special Section on Quantitative Systems Pharmacology

December 08, 2023

Titled “Quantitative Systems Pharmacology: A Foundation to Establish Precision Medicine,” this new special section highlights a variety of approaches to improve drug therapy for complex diseases and is now available in The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

Quantitative pharmacology has existed for decades—most notably in the fields of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics—and with the incorporation of systems biology, has established Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) as a pathway to precision medicine. The five articles in the special section include an article on using a model-based approach to optimize IFNα therapy for myeloproliferative neoplasms, an article exploring a computational model to treat glioblastoma multiforme with immune checkpoint blockade and oncolytic viruses, and an analyses of the application of machine learning to QSP in drug development.

All content in “Quantitative Systems Pharmacology: A Foundation to Establish Precision Medicine” is available in the October 2023 issue (387/1) of The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and is freely accessible through April 2024.
