The Pharmacologist

The Pharmacologist is ASPET’s flagship monthly news magazine. Each issue features topics that highlight human interest stories from ASPET members and pharmacologists in the community.

Regular features and columns include messages from both the President of ASPET and the society's Executive Officer, profiles of different leaders in the pharmacological community, highlights of career milestones of our members, helpful career information for those in either academia or industry, timely information from our distinguished journals, and fascinating, in-depth stories detailing the history of drug discovery or other moments in pharmacology's history.

Article Submission Guidelines 

 Estimated word counts: 

  • Cover story: 2,500-6,000 words 

  • For all other contributions, we generally recommend less than 1,000 words. 

 

Deadline: The deadline for stories is typically the 2nd Friday of each month, in order to be featured in that same month’s issue.  

 

Photos/Graphics: Please include a recent headshot, as well as any photos or graphics that complement your story. Photos can be JPG or PNG, and we request a minimum of 300 dpi. 

 

Format: Send your contribution in a Word document (not PDF), or within the body of an email. 

 

Editing: The draft will go through an editorial process, and you will be given the chance to review an edited version of your work (sent in “Track Changes”). In some cases, a rewrite may be requested. 

 

AI: Authors must declare the use of generative AI in the manuscript preparation process upon submission of the paper. The use of AI Tools must be declared by adding a statement at the end of the manuscript when your contribution is first submitted. The statement may appear in the published work.
