Huiting Jia is the Drug Metabolism and Disposition Highlighted Trainee Author for the February 2024 issue. Jia is a second-year PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her undergraduate degree in bioengineering from Northeastern University in China, and her master’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Southern California.
The DMD article that earner her the selection as a Highlighted Trainee Author is titled “Deciphering the Role of Fatty Acid–Metabolizing CYP4F11 in Lung Cancer and Its Potential As a Drug Target” and is available at https://doi.org/10.1124/dmd.123.001463.
Jia’s research focuses on the structure and functions of CYP4F11 and its underlying mechanism in lung cancer in the lab of Dr. Simone Brixius-Anderko at Pittsburgh’s School of Pharmacy. She is being trained on cytochrome P450 and lab techniques in biochemistry, and structure biology such as recombinant protein expression, protein purification, and X-ray protein crystallography. In her most recent research, she and her team hypothesize that CYP4F11 promotes cell proliferation and migration in lung cancer, which emphasizes the role of CYP4F11 as a therapeutic target.
