Tell Congress to Increase NIH Funding

February 22, 2018

This week is the final chance for increasing the funding of federal research agencies to levels approved by the Senate in September. That plan would raise the budget of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by $2 billion for FY 18. Now, Congress is ready to vote on a spending agreement that slashes that increase to $1 billion. Reducing the proposed FY 18 budget for NIH and other scientific agencies will limit innovation and lessen the economic benefits of scientific research.

Please let your Senators and Representative know that robust, sustained growth in NIH funding is crucial to maintaining the U.S.’s edge in scientific research.
