Having the opportunity to participate in the ASPET Editorial Fellows program has given me incredible insights into the editorial process. As an industry professional, it was really helpful being matched with another industry professional mentor to learn about balancing this commitment with industry work. My mentor emphasized the importance of giving back as a scientist. His training, guidance, and feedback helped me grow as an editor and industry leader.

I would highly recommend the ASPET editorial fellowship to colleagues interested in gaining firsthand experience with the editorial and peer-review processes of scientific publishing. Through this experience, I learned how to conduct constructive peer reviews, how to effectively communicate with editors to support decision-making, and how the editorial decisions are made from an editor’s perspective.
