Molecular Pharmacology Highlighted Trainee Author, March 2019

Kodye AbbottKodye Abbott is the Molecular Pharmacology Highlighted Trainee Author for the March 2019 issue. Kodye is a pre-doctoral student with the Biomedical Sciences program, Auburn University. His mentor is Satyanarayana Pondugula. The Molecular Pharmacology article that earned his selection as a Highlighted Trainee Author is titled “Belinostat, at Its Clinically Relevant Concentrations, Inhibits Rifampicin Induced CYP3A4 and MDR1 Gene Expression” and is available at https://doi.org/10.1124/mol.118.114587.

Kodye’s areas of research are drug discovery, adverse drug interactions, and chemoresistance.  He is interested in identifying clinical drugs that can be repurposed to overcome pregnane X receptor (PXR)-mediated chemoresistance.

The anticipated impact of his current research is the potential to overcome PXR agonist-induced chemoresistance during combination chemotherapy in some cancer cases. 

When not in the lab, Kodye enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, weight training, and distance running.
