ASPET Journals to Add Significance Statements

March 18, 2019

Starting April 1, 2019, a significance statement will be required for all new submissions that contain an abstract. The significance statement should succinctly explain in 1-2 sentences (120-word maximum) the relevance of the work in a broad context to a broad readership. It should identify the 2-3 most important points of the paper and appear immediately after the abstract.

Manuscripts that have already been reviewed and are undergoing revision are welcome to take advantage of the new feature but are not required to do so.

Significance statements will enable ASPET’s authors to quickly communicate the focus of their findings and save time for readers. They will also be used to publicize articles through social media.
