A special section focused on the sexual dimorphism of neuroimmune cells is being planned for publication in the August 2020 issue of The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

The submission deadline has been extended to January 15, 2020.

Original research pertaining to the broad and intricate repertoire of neuroimmune-related sex differences, which lead to differential physiological and pharmacological responses to neuropsychiatric or neurological disorders, will be considered for this special issue. Manuscripts describing studies to elucidate gender-dependent or gender-associated differences in the modulation of energy homeostasis, synapse remodeling and maturation, and responses to stress and pathological events mediated by neuroimmune cell populations are highly encouraged.

Review articles addressing any aspects of the aforementioned topics will be considered as well; proposals for such articles should be sent to the guest editors, Stella Tsirka or Luisa Torres, for approval prior to submission.
