On July 18, 2022, as part of ASPET’s strategy to attract and develop the next generation, the ASPET Council approved the addition of the Chair of the Young Scientists Committee (YSC) as a non-voting ex officio member of the ASPET Council. 

“ASPET is committed to enhancing the participation of early career scientists in all aspects of ASPET activities.  In our continuing efforts to strengthen ASPET and increase engagement of its membership, the addition of the Chair of the Young Scientists Committee to the ASPET Council is a logical step to harness the perspective of early career scientists in ASPET decision making” commented ASPET President Dr. Michael F. Jarvis.

The YSC is currently chaired by Dr. Dianicha Santana. Dr. Santana received her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico. She recently earned her PhD at the University of Illinois Chicago, where she studied mechanotransduction and endothelial signaling.  She’s been a member of ASPET since 2018 and, among other activities with the Society, serves on the Program Committee and was a 2019 ASPET Washington Fellow.
