I have served as President-Elect (2017-18) and then President (2018-19) of the Michigan regional chapter of the Society of Toxicology (SOT), and Secretary (2018-19) of the Computational Toxicology Specialty Section. I am currently serving as Vice-President-elect of the Association of Scientists of Indian Origin and Councilor for the Biological Modeling Specialty Section of SOT.
The foundational question I address in my research is: What are the molecular responses of cells in the human body to the myriad of chemical insults it faces every day? How can we better understand the gene regulatory networks that lead cells to adopt one particular fate over another, and how are these networks altered in disease and by exposure to environmental pollutants? Working in close collaboration with “wet lab” colleagues, I use a variety of computational tools to address these key questions in developmental biology and toxicology / pharmacology.
