The Rally for Medical Research celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. The event, held Sept. 14, raised awareness about the critical need for robust, sustained and predictable funding increases for the NIH in Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 and beyond to improve health, spur more progress, inspire more hope and save more lives.
As part of the Virginia delegation, ASPET’s Government Affairs & Science Policy Director Carter Alleman met with Senators Tim Kaine’s and Mark Warner’s staff as well as Congressman Gerry Conolly’s staff to stress the importance of continued increases in funding for NIH as well as avoiding a Continued Resolution. The meetings were productive and staff members were very accepting and willing to work with us on those issues.
