Join us for the Otto Krayer Award in Pharmacology Lecture.

The Otto Krayer Award in Pharmacology commemorates the enduring legacy of Otto Krayer's personal qualities: his ethical behavior, his commitment to teaching, his high standards of scientific scholarship, publication and editorship, his promotion of interdisciplinary research to reveal the actions of drugs or other chemicals, and his guidance and support of younger scientists. The purpose of the award is to recognize an individual whose character and career contributions to pharmacology are in accord with those exemplified by Otto Krayer.

Tickling Tumor Cell Iron to Result in Surprising Pharmacology: Development of Innovative Anti-cancer Agents that Overcome P-Glycoprotein Resistance and Metastasis

Professor Richardson will discuss his translational studies developing the anti-cancer and anti-metastatic drug, DpC, which overcomes P-glycoprotein-mediated resistance and up-regulates the potent metastasis suppressor, NDRG1. These investigations constitute a major proportion of his research over his career. DpC underwent multi-centre Phase I clinical trials for the treatment of advanced and resistant cancer.
