Over the last few months, there have been significant attacks on science. From grant cuts and major threats to the future of science funding, to the uncertainty many trainees feel about the future of science in the United States. We at ASPET are deeply concerned, and the United States' global leadership in science is at stake.

We are launching this outreach campaign and providing you with the resources needed to mobilize our community to defend science and advocate for the future of the scientific enterprise. ASPET is committed to empowering members of all career stages to engage with policymakers and the public directly to share their stories.

Through the following toolkits and related upcoming webinars, join our campaign to help Congress members understand why your work is important and how federal support for science is essential for our innovation in the United States and for the health of all Americans.

It's easy! All you have to do is click below to arrive at ASPET’s Action Center. You can then choose a campaign and an email and a phone script that ASPET has prepared that will pop up. Make sure to add a personal touch by editing the email or the phone script. If there are no active campaigns, use this checklist to write your own email.

A letter to the editor allows you to directly address your community and raise awareness about the impact of science and the importance of federal investment in research. It is an excellent way to influence public opinion and potentially prompt action from elected officials!

While meetings in Washington DC are valuable, local meetings offer a more personal and less rushed environment. These meetings can be instrumental in shaping Congress members’ understanding of the importance of science and how crucial federal investments in research are.
