The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Highlighted Trainee Author, February 2020

January 17, 2020

Chao ZhangChao Zhang is the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Highlighted Trainee Author for the February 2020 issue. Ms. Zhang is a graduate student at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, China. Her mentor is Jinshan Cao. The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics article that earned her selection as a Highlighted Trainee Author is titled “EP2/4 Receptors Promotes the Synthesis of PGE2 Increasing Tissue Damage in Bovine Endometrial Explants Induced by Escherichia coli” and is available at https://doi.org/10.1124/jpet.119.262444.

Ms. Zhang’s area of research is clinical pharmacology, mainly studying the mechanism of prostaglandin E2 (especially its receptors EP2 and EP4) on the regulation of endometritis in dairy cows. Her current position is working on student affairs in the Student Affairs Office of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The anticipated impact of Ms. Zhang’s research is that EP2 and EP4 receptors promote the synthesis of PGE2 and increase the expression of inflammatory factors, which results in tissue damage in bovine endometrial explants induced by Escherichia coli. This knowledge will provide a new therapeutic target for the treatment of endometritis in dairy cows.

When not in the lab, Ms. Zhang enjoys traveling and reading.
