Remi Janicot is the Molecular Pharmacology Highlighted Trainee Author for the September 2024 issue. Janicot is a fourth-year PhD student at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
The MolPharm article that earned him the selection as a Highlighted Trainee Author is titled “Get Ready to Sharpen Your Tools: A Short Guide to Heterotrimeric G Protein Activity Biosensors” and is available at https://doi.org/10.1124/molpharm.124.000949.
Janicot’s projects revolve around developing new technologies to study the activity of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), which are involved in countless biological processes and a multitude of diseases. Further, his research generates new GPCR biosensors that can detect receptor activity in physiologically relevant systems without disrupting endogenous signaling. These sensors can reveal new pharmacological properties of GPCRs that would otherwise be masked when using more artificial systems and/or biosensors, thereby accelerating our understanding of how GPCRs function in living organisms.
