Call for Papers on Multi-Systems Pharmacology and Therapeutic Application of Adipokines and Neuropeptides in Obesity

July 07, 2025

ASPET’s Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics is planning a new special collection titled “Multi-Systems Pharmacology and Therapeutic Application of Adipokines and Neuropeptides in Obesity.”

Currently 1 in 8 adults worldwide are living with obesity. Dysregulation of the synthesis and secretion of biologically active adipokines in obesity has been linked to inflammation, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, and cancer in obese individuals. Furthermore, in obese individuals, dysregulation of central signalling molecules such as neuropeptide Y can perpetuate overeating, hinder efforts to maintain a healthy weight, and influence fat storage and distribution within the body, potentially exacerbating metabolic complications associated with obesity.

The aim of this special collection is to spotlight high-quality, cutting-edge research that (i) advances our fundamental understanding of the pharmacology and pathophysiology of adipokines and neuropeptides in obesity and obesity-related diseases and (ii) describes novel therapeutic strategies targeting adipokine or neuropeptide signaling to manage obesity and related metabolic disorders. Original research articles or minireviews will be considered.

Article proposals, including the title, abstract, significance statement, and full author information, should be submitted to JPET@aspet.org. Special collection guest editors Drs. Kerry Goralski and Christopher Sinal will review the proposals for approval and respond to the authors with comments and suggestions before submission of the full article.

All submissions must follow the journal’s Guide for Authors. The submission deadline is August 1, 2025.
