This is your chance to get to know some members of Council, the journals’ Editorial Boards, and the ASPET Washington Fellows. ASPET members are encouraged to talk about the society, any ideas or questions you have, or anything else you have on your mind! Charles P. France, PhD - Councilor
Dr. France was elected to Councilor in 2012. He has also served as the Chair of the Behavioral Pharmacology Division, as a member of the Council of Division Chairs, and on the Editorial Board for The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. He currently serves on the Long Range Planning Committee.

Abernethy
Darrell R. Abernethy, MD, PhD - Deputy Editor, Pharmacology Research & Perspectives
Dr. Abernethy was recently named Deputy Editor of Pharmacology Research & Perspectives. He has served as Editor of Pharmacological Reviews and is an Associate Editor of The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

Annette E. Fleckenstein, PhD -
President-Elect Elect
Dr. Fleckenstein was just elected to President in this year’s election. She currently serves on the Finance Committee, which she has previously chaired, and she has previously been part of the Investment Subcommittee, the Committee on Women in Pharmacology, the Astellas Awards Committee, and the Neuropharmacology Division Executive Committee. Dr. Fleckenstein has also previously held office as Secretary/Treasurer of the Neuropharmacology Division and ASPET Secretary/Treasurer.

Mary E. Vore, PhD -
Past Secretary/Treasurer
Dr. Vore is the immediate Past Secretary/Treasurer of ASPET. She also serves on the Finance Committee and Investment Subcommittee and is Associate Editor of Molecular Pharmacology. Dr. Vore is a previous Chair of the Division for Toxicology and has also served on the Executive Committee of the Division for Drug Metabolism.

Edward T. Morgan, PhD - Secretary/Treasurer

Dr. Morgan is currently the Secretary/Treasurer. He also chairs the Finance Committee, sits on the investment subcommittee, and serves as a delegate to the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology. Dr. Morgan is also on the Board of Publications Trustees and is the editor of Drug Metabolism & Disposition. He has previously held office as Chair of the Division for Drug Metabolism.

Dr. Welch, Secretary/Treasurer-Elect, is currently a member of the Finance Committee and Investment Subcommittee. She also serves on the Editorial Board for The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and has previously served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Neuropharmacology Division.

Paul A. Insel, MD -
Secretary/Treasurer-Elect Elect
Dr. Insel was just elected to Secretary/Treasurer in this year’s election. He currently serves as Associate Editor of Pharmacological Reviews, Associate Editor of the British Journal of Pharmacology, and Editor of the Annual Review of Pharmacology and Toxicology. He has previously been a member and Chair of the Program Committee and of the Experimental Biology Board. He is a previous Editorial Board member, Associate Editor, and Editor of Molecular Pharmacology, and he has also served as Editor of The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.

Dr. Thummel currently serves on ASPET Council as Councilor. He is a member of the Long Range Planning Committee. Dr. Jarvis is Editor of The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and also serves on the Board of Publications Trustees. He serves as a delegate to the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology.

Neubig, Rick 2012-2013 Council
Richard R. Neubig, MD, PhD - President-Elect
Dr. Neubig will serve as ASPET President beginning in July 2013. He has previously been Councilor on the ASPET Council. He currently chairs the Committee on Committees and is a member of the Long Range Planning Committee and Investment Subcommittee, in addition to being on the Editorial Board for Molecular Pharmacology. He is also a delegate to the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology. Dr. Neubig is a past member of the Board of Publications Trustees and a previous Chair of the Division for Molecular Pharmacology.

Lynn Wecker
Lynn Wecker, PhD - Immediate Past President
Dr. Wecker is the immediate Past President of ASPET.  She currently chairs the Nominating Committee, Council of Division Chairs, Long Range Planning Committee, and Science Policy Committee. She is also a member of the Committee on Committees, advises the Committee on Mentoring and Career Development, and serves as Treasurer for FASEB. She was previously ASPET Secretary/Treasurer and a member of the Investment Subcommittee.

Mike Curtis
Michael J. Curtis, PhD, Editor-in-Chief, Pharmacology Research & Perspectives
Dr. Curtis was named Editor-in-Chief of Pharmacology Research & Perspectives. He is a member of the British Pharmacological Society, which is partnering with ASPET and John Wiley & Sons, Inc. to publish PR&P.

David Sibley
David R. Sibley, PhD - Editor, Pharmacological Reviews
Dr. Sibley is currently Editor of Pharmacological Reviews. He also serves on the Board of Publications Trustees. He has previously held office as ASPET Secretary/Treasurer. Dr. Sibley has also been a member of the Program and Nominating Committees, the Astellas and Julius Axelrod Award Committees, and several other committees. He is a previous delegate to the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology. Additionally, Dr. Sibley has been a member of the Editorial Board for The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and Molecular Pharmacology.  

Meet the ASPET Washington Fellows

Graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, or any researcher no more than four years past the completion of their postdoctoral training can learn more about the 2013 ASPET Washington Fellows and their experiences visiting Capitol Hill to advocate for NIH funding.

We encourage individuals interested in next year’s program to learn more from the 2013 ASPET Washington Fellows Program.
