Legoland California Entrance

San Diego is a perfect destination if you are adding a family vacation before or after the meeting. There are a host of family attractions, such as SeaWorld San Diego, the San Diego Zoo, and LEGOLAND California, to appeal to the entire family.

Outdoor Recreation

Beach Run

With 70 miles of beaches, you can enjoy water activities such as surfing, stand up paddleboard, and even kayaking. San Diego’s four microclimates, including mountains, deserts, inland valleys and beaches can give you an experience you won’t forget. Explore rural mountain terrain or desert trails, run with the tide or swim against it, scuba dive the depths of kelp forests or cycle pine forests.

Gaslamp Quarter Archway

San Diego is a shopper’s paradise with upscale malls, specialty boutiques, galleries, outlet centers and antique shops throughout the city. Start the spree downtown within steps of the convention center in the exciting Gaslamp Quarter with fun boutiques and an array of hip stores.  Hop on the San Diego Trolley for a short trip to Fashion Valley Mall or a short cab to Balboa Park.

San Diego Museum

A few steps from the San Diego Convention Center is the New Children’s Museum where kids of all ages can explore and adults can find their inner child. And 10 minutes away you can spend the day at the lush 1,200-acre Balboa Park, one of the nation’s largest cultural complexes and home to the largest concentration of museums west of the Mississippi. Browse the spectacular array of fine art, science and natural history, aerospace, photography, model railroads, automobiles and performing arts.

From top-flight steakhouses and diverse ethnic fare, dinner clubs to sultry jazz bars, over 100 restaurants - intermingled with dance and drink - are all situated within blocks of each other within walking distance of the convention center.

San Diego enjoys beautiful weather year round with an average daily temperature of 70.5 degrees Fahrenheit (21.4 degrees Celsius). In April, the city typically experiences 72% sunshine and 70% humidity with an average rainfall for the month of 0.78 inches (1.98 cm).

Casual and layering options are ideal for San Diego's comfortable weather both indoors and out. Evenings are cooler, even in the summer, so be sure to bring a jacket or a light sweater. Finally, bring comfortable, breathable walking shoes especially if you plan on doing any sightseeing.
