Did you know that there are few legislators with a STEM background on Capitol Hill? Science advocates help bridge the gap between legislative policymaking and scientific expertise - help build that that bridge by applying to ASPET's young scientist advocacy program!
Apply to be a 2022 ASPET Washington Fellow by November 19, 2021!
ASPET anticipates conducting the 2022 program in-person in Washington, D.C. in March of next year. Please be aware that restrictions on visitation to the Capitol Hill complex may require changes to this plan.
Beginning in January, selected fellows will:
- Receive instruction from ASPET staff on ASPET’s current policy issues
- Participate in an advocacy training in Washington, D.C. with former fellows, congressional staff, and D.C.-based policy experts
- Attend meetings with legislative officials and/or staff on Capitol Hill
- Publish op-eds in local and regional news outlets on their experience
ASPET anticipates selecting up to ten Washington Fellows for the 2022 program. The fellowship application must be completed online and will require a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s immediate supervisor or mentor, a personal statement, and responses to several short essay questions.
