Yifan Bao

Yifan Bao is the Drug Metabolism and Disposition Highlighted Trainee Author for the May 2022 issue. She was a graduate student in pharmacology at the University of Connecticut, under the direction of Dr. Xiaobo Zhong. Ms. Bao recently graduated and started a position at Johnson and Johnson. The DMD article that earned her selection as a Highlighted Trainee Author is titled “Alterations of Cytochrome P450-Mediated Drug Metabolism During Liver Repair and Regeneration After Acetaminophen-Induced Liver Injury in Mice” and is available at https://doi.org/10.1124/dmd.121.000459.

Ms. Bao’s presented work focuses on the impact of drug-induced liver injury, recovery, and regeneration on the expression and activities of drug-metabolizing cytochrome P450s and correlated drug efficacy and adverse drug reactions. She illustrated how to justify doses based on predicted changes of P450 activities during liver injury, regeneration, and recovery after induced by drugs.

The anticipated impact of Ms. Bao’s work will provide fundamental knowledge for translational research of dose adjustment strategy for patients during liver injury, recovery, and regeneration.

When not working in the lab, Yifan enjoys figure skating and swimming. She also enjoys spending time with her pets.
