Call for papers on Clinical Pharmacology

February 11, 2026

ASPET’s Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics is pleased to announce its newest article section, Clinical Pharmacology.

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (JPET) has launched a new research article section and is now accepting manuscript submissions in the area of Clinical Pharmacology. This new article descriptor has been established to underscore the critical role that clinical pharmacology plays in advancing human health and supporting both the development of new drugs and post-approval research aimed at identifying novel therapeutic indications or optimizing the risk to benefit ratio of existing treatment strategies.

Clinical research is essential for advancing medical knowledge and improving patient care. Especially in settings where there is a limited availability of therapeutic opportunities, and the need for active and safe pharmacological interventions is perceived by drug developers and regulatory agencies as an “unmet medical need.”

We view this addition of a new Clinical Pharmacology section as an exciting opportunity to strengthen JPET’s strategic direction and elevate its scholarly impact in the field of health sciences. This new section will offer an opportunity for investigators to show their talent in designing and conducting clinical pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies, as well as endpoint-driven trials that illustrate the efficacy and safety of new or repurposed drugs versus available comparators.

The Clinical Pharmacology section of JPET welcomes submissions from a range of original research article types, including multicenter clinical trials reporting results from Phase 1, 2, and 3 studies, as well as studies that combine more than one phase of investigation according to an adaptive trial design. Observational studies are also welcome, provided they offer insight in drug efficacy and safety in a population of clinical interest and statistical significance. Single-center, post-approval exploratory clinical pharmacology studies, as well as proof-of-concept bench to bedside translational research that combines in vivo studies and ex vivo pharmacologic correlates in human biopsy samples or other human-derived biologic samples, are strongly encouraged.

Minireviews and commentaries in all areas of clinical pharmacology will be well received, including expert opinion on new directions in drug development and regulatory approval.

JPET does not consider case reports.

Article proposals, including the title, abstract, significance statement, and full author information should be submitted to JPET@aspet.org.

All submissions must follow the journal’s Guide for Authors.

There is no end date for this call for papers.
