Join us for an opening lecture named after the founder of ASPET, the John J. Abel Award in Pharmacology. This award was established in 1946 to stimulate fundamental research in pharmacology and experimental therapeutics by young investigators.

Heterotrimeric G proteins are signaling switches typically activated by GPCRs, the largest family of druggable targets in the human genome. But, what happens when G protein signaling is triggered by proteins that are not GPCRs? Mechanisms, consequences, and opportunities for pharmacological targeting of these underappreciated signaling processes will be presented
